Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Jerry Thornton?

I got my start as a stand-up comic doing a lot of material related to Boston sports. Within a few months, I won the Boston Comedy Riot competition and started working colleges and clubs all over New England. A reputation for sports comedy got me appearances on HBO's Emmy-winning Red Sox documentaries "Curse of the Bambino" and "Reverse of the Curse of the Bambino." I was always interested in writing about sports and eventually landed a job as one of the original writers for "Barstool Sports" and remained with The Stool as it took over the Internet.

In November of 2014, I moved on to a full time position with WEEI Sports Radio Network's Dale and Holley with Thornton afternoon drive time show and creating's daily Thornography blog, as well as the Unsportsmanlike Podcast.

And now, author of From Darkness to Dynasty: The first 40 years of the New England Patriots.

Anything else?

When I'm not talking sports, writing, performing comedy or appearing on TV, I prefer to spend my nights as a caped vigilante, cleaning up the streets so citizens can sleep in peace. I'm the hero you deserve, but not the one you need right now. A silent guardian. A watchful protector. A dark knight.

Is that it?

I tend to talk in movie quotes quite a bit.

Why did you write From Darkness to Dynasty?

Simply put, because I've always wanted to read this book and no one wrote it. So I did. I grew up knowing most of the bizarre, dysfunctional stories involving the laughingstock that was the New England Patriots. And felt they needed to be told by someone who lived through most of them and loved the team anyway. FD2D (the book's Droid name) is the result.

When does the book come out?

September 6, 2016

Where will I be able to buy a copy?

It's available for pre-order now on Amazon. And will be at all major retailers as well as independent book sellers.

What's the address of your blog? And the Unsportsmanlike Podcast is on under "audio."

And what's on Thornography?

Sports, sarcasm, pop culture, bizarre news articles, celebrity and athlete sexual hijinks, nerd culture, funny videos and an unhealthy obsession with Tom Brady.

What is on your Best Sports Moments Mount Rushmore?

4. The 2004 Red Sox winning the World Series.

3. The 2001 Patriots winning the Super Bowl.

2. U.S. Olympic Hockey's Miracle on Ice.

1. My first day on the WEEI job when Bill Belichick came on the air and said "It's an honor to finally meet you, Jerry." i kid you not. I once took a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon, made out with a Hawaiian girl under a palm tree, Steven Wright once told me he really enjoyed my act and I've seen two babies be born. That was the best moment of my life.
